I did a locum antenatal visit today. The woman asked me if I remembered her. I gave her my usual info about meeting many women in 3 different ways (antenatal classes, midwife locum and maternity resource centre) and she said I was the midwife that attended her birth in 2008. I felt awful.
I have never been good at remembering names and faces unless a woman is unusual, and this overload with likely meeting approximately 300 pregnant women a year doesn’t help. I hope women understand and don’t think I am uncaring.
